More Book Recommendations

Here is a list of books that I highly recommend.  I am grouping them by reading level.  Do not frustrate young readers by forcing them to read books at their school grade level if they aren’t ready.  Good readers grow from readers who enjoy reading.  No one enjoys reading a book that makes them struggle.

For adults and young adults:

  1. Let’s Take the Long Way Home (A Memoir of Friendship) by Gail Caldwell
  2. The Day the World Came to Town, 9/11 by Jim Defede
  3. A Walk Across America by Peter Jenkins
  4. Megan’s Way by Melissa Foster
  5. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
  6. A Raisin in the Sun by Hansberry
  7. The Book Thief by Zusak

For intermediate readers:

  1. Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
  2. Because of Winn Dixie by Dicamillo
  3. A Wrinkle in Time by L’Engle
  4. Bud, Not Buddy by C.P. Curtis
  5. From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by C.L. Konigsburg

For Young Readers

  1. Playing for Pride by Timothy Tucker
  2. The Adventures of the Sneeky Sneekers by Jaroch and Jaroch
